Oilers’ New-Look Top Line Is Putting Up Absurd Numbers

The Edmonton Oilers' new top line of Vasily Podkolzin, Connor McDavid, and Leon Draisaitl has been dominant early in the season under head coach Mike Babcock, posting an 8-0 scoring margin over 53:09 of 5-on-5 ice time together. The trio has recorded an expected goals for percentage of 80.43%, according to Natural Stat Trick, making them one of the NHL's most effective offensive units. Podkolzin's seamless chemistry with the two star forwards has exceeded expectations and sparked questions about whether the Oilers will keep the line intact.
