Otamendi retires from Argentina duty after WC

Nicolás Otamendi, 38, has announced his retirement from international football after 139 appearances and eight goals for Argentina. The centre-back played his final match as a substitute in Argentina's 1-0 extra-time defeat to Spain in the World Cup final on Sunday. During his 17-year international career, Otamendi won the 2022 World Cup and Copa America titles in both 2021 and 2024.
