Cole became the only pitcher in MLB history to surrender three consecutive home runs to start a game on two separate occasions, having previously done so on June 9, 2022, against Minnesota. The first instance in Padres history occurred on April 13, 1987, when Marvell Wynne, Tony Gwynn, and John Kruk homered off Roger Mason, making it only the 12th time any team has accomplished the feat in MLB history.
