PGA Tour adding match play to playoffs with rotating venues at 'prestigious courses'

The PGA Tour's board of directors approved sweeping changes on Monday that will take effect for the 2028 season, including the introduction of match play to settle the winner of the Tour Championship for the first time. The revamped Tour Championship will rotate among prestigious courses, many of which the PGA Tour has never previously hosted. The changes were driven by Tour CEO Brian Rolapp, who took over a year ago with a mandate to make the playoff system simpler and more compelling.
