PGA Tour confirms first events for new-look 2028 ‘Championship Series’

The PGA Tour has confirmed the first three events of its new 2028 Championship Series, with The Sentry and the Travelers Championship among the top-tier events announced. The restructured schedule, unveiled by new CEO Brian Rolapp in June, will split the Tour into a Championship Series (up to 24 events, February–August, $20 million purses, 120-player fields) and a Challenger Series ($4 million purses, 144-player fields). Key changes include promotion and relegation, a match play postseason, and Sentry replacing Farmers Insurance as the sponsor for the early-season event at Torrey Pines.
