PGA Tour eliminates Champions Tour pensions, players blast decision
The PGA Tour has eliminated pension allocations for PGA Tour Champions players entirely, following a reduction from $10 million to $8 million the previous year and now to zero. The pension program, which dates back to 1985 and began with a $250,000 allocation, has always been approved on a year-to-year basis. Players including three-time Champions Tour winner Billy Andrade and Scott McCarron publicly condemned the decision, with Andrade calling it 'actually criminal' and arguing the affected players helped build the Tour into what it is today.
