PGA Tour gets state grant for Presidents Cup at Medinah Country Club

The PGA Tour will receive a $1 million state grant from Illinois, appropriated through the fiscal year 2027 budget via the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, to cover costs associated with hosting the Presidents Cup at Medinah Country Club in the western suburbs of Chicago during the last weekend of September. A Freedom of Information Act request revealed that DCEO and the PGA have already signed the grant agreement, which allows the PGA to be reimbursed for purchasing and installing tournament equipment. The state also includes an additional $500,000 reappropriation for PGA infrastructure improvements, with DCEO expecting increased tourism and economic activity in return.
