PGA Tour golfer disqualified after weather delay leads to unusual rule breach at Wyndham Championship

Aaron Wise was disqualified from the Wyndham Championship after failing to return to the course following a weather delay on Friday. Play was suspended at 5:26 pm local time at Sedgefield Country Club due to dangerous weather, resuming approximately 30 minutes later at 6:00 pm, but Wise chose not to come back as he was sitting at 3-over par with only four holes remaining and had virtually no chance of making the projected cut of 3-under. The 30-year-old was disqualified for breaching Rule 5.7(c) 2, which requires players to resume play from where they stopped when a round is resumed.
