PGA Tour reveals details of new Championship and Challenge series for 2028 season

The PGA Tour announced on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, a new two-tiered competitive structure set to launch in the 2028 season. The system will consist of a Championship Series featuring 23-24 events — including the four majors, The Players Championship, and a reimagined playoff — designed for elite players, and a Challenger Series serving as the primary pathway to the top tier. PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp revealed the details ahead of an event in Cromwell, Connecticut.
