Phillies ace Sánchez has consecutive shutout innings streak ended at 50 2/3 by Padres
Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Cristopher Sánchez had his consecutive shutout innings streak ended at 50 2/3 on Wednesday, June 4, 2026, when San Diego Padres' Jackson Merrill hit a two-out RBI single in the seventh inning. The streak ranked third-best since the start of the Live Ball Era in 1920, behind Orel Hershiser's record 59 straight scoreless innings in 1988 and Don Drysdale's 58 in 1968. Before the streak ended, Sánchez had surpassed Carl Hubbell to become the career leader in consecutive scoreless innings among left-handed pitchers.
