Pickord takes Shilton's WC appearance record

Jordan Pickford broke the England World Cup appearance record by starting the quarterfinal against Norway at the 2026 World Cup, earning his 18th appearance and surpassing the previous record held by goalkeeper Peter Shilton. The Everton keeper has now played in three World Cup campaigns (2018, 2022, and 2026), starting all five matches in the current tournament under manager Thomas Tuchel. The milestone also extended Pickford's run to 30 consecutive major tournament matches for England.
