Pidcock warns against 'gruelling' World Championships route
Tom Pidcock, riding for Pinarello-Q36.5, has warned that the 2026 World Cycling Championships in Canada on September 27 will be an extremely gruelling 'war of attrition' after riding the Montreal Grand Prix course, which measured 214.4 kilometres — nearly 60 kilometres shorter than the Worlds route. Pidcock noted that even without defending champion Tadej Pogačar, only the strongest riders will survive the demanding circuit. The British rider also reflected on his own tactical mistakes at the Montreal Grand Prix, acknowledging that attacks must be timed better, particularly saving efforts for the final two laps.
