Players Championship 14: Wessel Nijman emulates Michael van Gerwen with fifth tour victory

Wessel Nijman won the Players Championship 14 in Hildesheim, Germany, defeating Max Hopp 8-1 in the final to claim his fifth Players Championship title of the year. The 25-year-old Dutchman became the first player to win five Players Championship titles in a single year since Michael van Gerwen achieved the feat in 2016. Nijman currently holds 16th place in the PDC world rankings.
