Pogacar conquers Alpe d’Huez in record climb to win stage 19 and extend Tour de France lead

Tadej Pogacar won stage 19 of the Tour de France by climbing Alpe d'Huez in a record time of 35 minutes and 27 seconds, breaking Marco Pantani's 1997 record of 36 minutes and 55 seconds. The Slovenian rider, racing in the yellow jersey, became only the second man to win atop the iconic mountain while wearing yellow, following Geraint Thomas in 2018. The victory was Pogacar's fifth stage win of this Tour and 26th of his career, extending his overall lead to more than seven minutes.
