Point of Law, bred by King Charles, storms home to win Melbourne Cup
Point of Law, a four-year-old formerly bred and owned by King Charles III, won the 2026 Melbourne Cup in front of a crowd of over 90,000, pulling clear in the final 100-200 metres to defeat Royal Supremacy, who had led by 20 lengths midway through the race. Jockey Ethan Brown claimed his first Melbourne Cup victory, while trainer Ciaron Maher secured his second, also making history by having his stablemates Zahrann and Juja Kibo finish second and third โ the first time in the race's 166-year history that the same trainer filled the trifecta. Maher had seven runners entered in the race.
