Prem Rugby team ditch Big Game fixture at Premier League ground

Gloucester Rugby have cancelled their planned Big Game fixture at Aston Villa's Villa Park after the inaugural event last season drew criticism from fans. The Slater Cup match against Leicester Tigers attracted over 20,000 attendees — roughly half of Villa Park's capacity — aided by discounted tickets. Following a review of fan and stakeholder feedback, Gloucester announced the annual fixture against Leicester will return to their home ground, Kingsholm Stadium, for the 2026/27 season.
