Premier League confirms rule changes for 2026-27

The Premier League has confirmed several rule changes set to take effect from the 2026-27 season, aligned with amendments made by the International Football Association Board. Key changes include injured players being required to leave the field for at least one minute, a five-second countdown for throw-ins and goal-kicks to prevent time-wasting, a 10-second limit for substituted players to exit the pitch, and VAR reviews for second yellow cards resulting in a red card. The league has opted not to adopt certain optional laws, such as expanding VAR to review incorrectly awarded corners.
