Premier League set to reject extended powers for VAR next season

The Premier League is expected to reject extended VAR powers that would allow the technology to rule on corner awards and second yellow cards. While IFAB has introduced these new rules in time for the World Cup, it has made them discretionary rather than mandatory. The Premier League's referees' body PGMO has advised against adopting the expanded VAR remit for next season.
