Premier League to offer enhanced referee and VAR communications this season

The Premier League and Pro Ref are introducing enhanced referee and VAR communications for the 2026/27 season, beginning 18 August 2026. New measures include direct quotes from on-field officials and VARs posted via the Premier League Match Centre X account, now also available on the Premier League website and app, covering selected incidents to clarify decision-making rationale. The Premier League will also continue lobbying IFAB to allow more in-game broadcast communications from match officials.
