Prichard Colon dies from boxing injury that resulted in 221-day coma
Former professional boxer Prichard Colon died at the age of 33, approximately 11 years after suffering severe brain injuries during a super-welterweight bout against Terrel Williams in October 2015. The fight was awarded to Williams via disqualification in the ninth round after Colon's team removed his gloves, with Colon complaining of dizziness, and he subsequently fell into a coma lasting 221 days. Colon, a rising Puerto Rican boxing star, required emergency surgery for neurological damage and had been left with life-changing disabilities since the incident.
