Puerto Rican boxer Prichard Colón dies 11 years after suffering severe brain injury
Puerto Rican boxer Prichard Colón died at age 33, approximately 11 years after suffering severe brain injuries during an October 17, 2015 fight against Terrel Williams. Colón fell into a 221-day coma after taking repeated illegal blows to the back of the head, later diagnosed as a large subdural hematoma, and never recovered from a persistent vegetative state. His death was announced Thursday by his father Richard on Facebook, and the family had previously filed a $50 million lawsuit against the ringside doctor and fight promoters.
