Putellas, LCL to open WSL season against Man Utd

Ballon d'Or winner Alexia Putellas will make her WSL debut when London City Lionesses host Manchester United on September 4, 2026, in the opening fixture of the 2026-27 WSL season. Putellas joined London City Lionesses from Barcelona alongside other high-profile signings including Mapi León, Kadidiatou Diani, and goalkeeper Mary Earps, who arrives from Paris Saint-Germain. Champions Manchester City begin their title defence against newly-promoted Birmingham City, while Chelsea will play all home matches at Stamford Bridge for the first time this season.
