Qatar whistleblower arrested before testifying in 2022 World Cup human trafficking case

Qatar whistleblower Abdullah Ibhais, who previously spent three years in a Doha jail, has been arrested ahead of his scheduled testimony as a witness in a US District Court deposition related to a 2022 World Cup human trafficking case. The deposition was set to take place within two weeks of the arrest. Ibhais had been a prominent critic of Qatar's treatment of migrant workers during the World Cup preparations.
