Qualifier Chwalinska extends dream French Open run

Polish qualifier Maja Chwalinska, ranked world number 114, reached her first Grand Slam semi-final at the French Open on June 3, 2026, defeating 22nd seed Anna Kalinskaya 7-6 (7-3) 6-3. She becomes only the second qualifier to reach the Roland Garros singles semi-finals after Nadia Podoroska in 2020, and just the sixth qualifier in the Open era to achieve a Grand Slam women's singles semi-final. Chwalinska could face world number one Aryna Sabalenka in the last four.
