Queen's tennis tournament in chaos as BBC pulls broadcast minutes after start
The opening day of the Queen's tennis tournament on Monday, June 8, 2026 was severely disrupted by heavy rain in London. Play was delayed from the scheduled 12:45pm start and, when three first-round matches eventually began in the afternoon, they were halted after just one game. Olympic champion Qinwen Zheng had played only eight points against Jaqueline Cristian, Karolina Pliskova was 1-0 up against McCartney Kessler, and British wildcard Harriet Dart had managed just one point before organisers announced no further play until at least 5pm, with the BBC also pulling its broadcast.
