R&A golf club names Claire Dowling as first woman captain in its 272-year history

The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews has appointed amateur golfer Claire Dowling as its first female captain in the club's 272-year history. The historic club, located on the east coast of Scotland, first opened its membership to women in 2014, 12 years ago. Dowling will begin her tenure as club captain from September.
