Ralf Schumacher: Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso should quit Formula 1 to make way for younger drivers

Former F1 driver and Sky pundit Ralf Schumacher has called for both Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso to retire from Formula 1 at the end of the 2026 season to make way for younger talent. Speaking on Sky Germany's Backstage Boxengasse podcast, Schumacher acknowledged Hamilton's improvement at Ferrari — including securing his first Ferrari podium at the second race of 2026 in China after a podium-less 2025 — but doubts the 8-time World Champion can consistently match teammate Charles Leclerc across a full campaign. Schumacher argues that despite their achievements, both veterans should step aside for the next generation of drivers.
