Ranji snub to white-ball leader: Suryakumar Yadav set to lead Mumbai in Vijay Hazare & SMAT after shock red-ball omission

Suryakumar Yadav, India's prominent white-ball cricket leader, has been surprisingly omitted from Mumbai's Ranji Trophy (red-ball) squad but is set to captain the team in the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) and Vijay Hazare Trophy, both limited-overs domestic competitions. The news was reported on November 5, 2026, highlighting a notable split in his selection across formats at the domestic level. His exclusion from red-ball cricket at the domestic level comes as a shock given his high-profile status in white-ball cricket.
