Rays sweep their way past Yankees to reach 3rd ALCS in franchise history

The Tampa Bay Rays defeated the New York Yankees 4-3 in Game 3 of the AL Division Series on Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium, completing a sweep to advance to the American League Championship Series for the third time in franchise history. It was the first sweep in a best-of-five postseason series or longer in Rays franchise history, and only the second time the Yankees have been swept in such a series, the previous occasion being the 1980 ALCS. Game 1 of the ALCS is scheduled for Monday at Tropicana Field, where the Rays will host either the Guardians or White Sox.
