Records Fall at Ulster Schools Track and Field Championships

The Ulster Schools Track and Field Championships, held on May 16–17, 2026, attracted over 500 athletes from across the province. Harry McVeigh of St Malachy's, Castlewellan broke a championship record dating back to 1974 in the Mini Boys 800m, clocking 2:12.01, more than two seconds faster than the previous mark. Leah O'Gara of Loreto Letterkenny also set a new championship record in the Intermediate Girls 1200m walk, finishing in 9:30.10, nearly five seconds ahead of the previous best.
