Red Roses suffer back-to-back defeats for first time in 10 years as Canada make statement

Canada defeated England 31-22 in Ottawa in a WXV match, handing the Red Roses their first consecutive defeat in 10 years — only their third loss in the past 74 matches. Canada captain Sophie de Goede, the reigning world player of the year, scored a hat-trick and contributed strong defensive work, while Julie Omokhuale also impressed. The result positions Canada as serious World Cup contenders for 2029, following their final loss to England at the 2025 World Cup.
