Red Sox part ways with Cora and 5 members of staff amid rough start to '26
The Boston Red Sox fired manager Alex Cora and five coaching staff members on Saturday despite the team having just recorded a 17-1 victory over the Orioles, their largest winning margin of the season. The dismissals come after the Red Sox posted a disappointing 10-17 record to start the 2026 season, with Triple-A Worcester manager Chad Tracy named as interim manager. Hitting coach Pete Fatse, third-base coach Kyle Hudson, bench coach Ramón Vázquez, assistant hitting coach Dillon Lawson, and hitting strategy coach Joe Cronin were also let go, marking the first in-season managerial firing for the Red Sox since August 2001.
