Relentless Tadej Pogacar wins fifth Tour de France to equal record

Tadej Pogacar won his fifth Tour de France on Sunday, equalling the record held by Jacques Anquetil, Eddy Merckx, Bernard Hinault, and Miguel Indurain. The final stage on the Champs-Élysées was won by Mathieu van der Poel, who claimed his second stage victory of the race after breaking away with Pogacar on the Butte de Montmartre climb. Eddy Merckx, now 81, praised Pogacar and predicted the Slovenian would go on to break the all-time record of five Tour de France victories.
