Repeat weapons offender from Normal gets 19-years on gun charges
Caleb Teplitz-Crawford, 23, of Normal, Illinois, was sentenced to 19 years in prison by McLean County Judge William Yoder after a jury found him guilty of illegally possessing a loaded firearm while on parole for prior felony weapons convictions. Bloomington Police stopped his vehicle in June 2025 at Grove and Evans streets due to a suspended registration, whereupon Teplitz-Crawford fled with a gun that was later recovered in bushes with the help of a police K-9. Teplitz-Crawford had previously received a nine-year sentence in May 2023 but was released in March 2025; he is now held at Graham Correctional Center with a projected parole date of May 1, 2035.
