RFU backs Steve Borthwick to lead England for 2027 World Cup after Six Nations review
The Rugby Football Union has confirmed Steve Borthwick will continue as England men's head coach through to the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia, following a detailed review of England's Six Nations campaign. England suffered four defeats in the tournament, their worst performance in the Five or Six Nations for 50 years and the first time they had lost four championship games in a single season since 1976. RFU chief Bill Sweeney acknowledged the poor results but stated there was no 'one simple answer,' with the union opting against repeating the mistake of sacking a coach mid-cycle as it did with Eddie Jones nine months before the 2023 World Cup.
