RFU council member punished for Maggie Alphonsi comment on Facebook

Rugby Football Union council member Matthew Smith, who represents Warwickshire, has had his privileges suspended for seven months after posting a discriminatory comment on Facebook about England World Cup winner and pundit Maggie Alphonsi, 42. The comment was made during France's 48-46 Six Nations victory over England earlier this year, in which Smith questioned Alphonsi's knowledge of men's rugby. Alphonsi has stated she is 'disappointed' with the outcome of the disciplinary process.
