Richarlison declined new deal before Spurs exile

Tottenham head coach Roberto De Zerbi revealed that he offered Richarlison a contract extension at the start of preseason, but the 27-year-old Brazilian declined. A proposed return to Everton collapsed before the September 1 Premier League transfer deadline, leaving Richarlison without a move. The 29-year-old has subsequently been omitted from Spurs' 25-man Premier League squad for the first half of the season.
