Roberto Mancini returns as Italy head coach with Claudio Ranieri named technical director

Roberto Mancini has agreed to return as Italy head coach for a second time, as confirmed by FIGC president Giovanni Malagò on Tuesday. Mancini replaces Gennaro Gattuso, who left the post in April after Italy failed to qualify for a third consecutive World Cup, and previously held the role from 2018 to 2023, during which he led Italy to Euro 2020 glory with a penalty shootout win over England at Wembley. Claudio Ranieri has also been appointed as technical director, taking over the overseeing role from Paolo Maldini.
