Rodman rule has been revised but the fight to keep stars in the NWSL goes on | Moving the Goalposts
The NWSL has revised its High Impact Player (HIP) rule, commonly known as the 'Rodman Rule,' after settling a grievance with the NWSL Players Association, which argued that the original eight qualifying criteria violated federal labor law. Under the new agreement, every player in the league will qualify for the rule starting next season, removing the previous restrictions on which players clubs could designate for higher spending. The announcement came on Friday, ahead of Washington Spirit's Decision Day match against Chicago, with the Spirit currently fighting to secure a top-four playoff position.
