Roed looks ready, but doesn’t mind waiting for shot at NHL Draft

Nash Roed, a 16-year-old forward from White Bear Lake, Minnesota, scored a hat trick to lead Team USA to a 5-2 win over Slovakia in the Hlinka Gretzky Cup semifinal at Rogers Place in Edmonton on Friday. Roed misses the 2027 NHL Draft eligibility cutoff by just 10 days, as he won't turn 17 until September 25, making him a projected 2028 NHL Draft prospect. TSN director of scouting Craig Button called him an outstanding player who could have been a first-round pick in 2027, and Roed recorded 47 points in 28 games with White Bear Lake High School last season.
