Romain Bardet out of mud-soaked Unbound just 100 miles in

Romain Bardet, the former Tour de France stage winner, abandoned his Unbound Gravel debut on Saturday after completing approximately 100 miles of the race. He withdrew at the Matfield Green checkpoint as severe rain and thunderstorms transformed the Flint Hills course into extremely difficult muddy conditions. The retired French cycling star was unable to continue in what proved to be a grueling and weather-affected edition of the gravel race.
