Romero seals transfer to Atlético from Tottenham

Cristian Romero has completed a permanent transfer from Tottenham Hotspur to Atlético Madrid, with Spurs receiving €35 million plus €5 million in variables for the Argentine centre-back. Romero spent five years at Tottenham, making 156 appearances and scoring 13 goals, including winning the Player of the Match award in the 2025 Europa League final victory over Manchester United. Tottenham have already signed replacements Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke this summer.
