Rooney on VAR call for Haaland goal: 'Baffling'

Wayne Rooney criticised VAR on BBC's Match of the Day 2, calling it 'baffling' that Erling Haaland's winner in the Manchester derby was allowed to stand. The goal was initially disallowed on the field but overturned by VAR official Matt Donohue, who ruled Haaland was onside and that Chelsea's Enzo Fernández had not interfered with play from an offside position. Pro Ref subsequently admitted VAR made an 'error of judgement' by not sending referee Michael Oliver to the monitor to review Fernández's interference, which appeared to have affected both United defender Lisandro Martínez and goalkeeper Senne Lammens.
