Rory McIlroy predicts LIV Golf player exodus after bankruptcy filing
Rory McIlroy has predicted that players will leave LIV Golf following the circuit's Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing in the United States on Tuesday, after Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) withdrew its financial backing. The proposed restructuring would see LIV return in a new form in 2027, with players potentially becoming majority owners and BC Partners Credit providing new financial support, though players are not obligated to join the revamped circuit. Speaking ahead of the Irish Open at Trump International Golf Links in Doonbeg, McIlroy suggested some departing players could strengthen the DP World Tour.
