Rory McIlroy questions sustainability of proposed PGA Tour schedule changes

Rory McIlroy expressed skepticism about the PGA Tour's upcoming two-tier restructuring plan, speaking to media at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club ahead of his 18th U.S. Open appearance. The new structure, first introduced by PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp in March at the Players Championship, would divide the tour into Track 1 (approximately 16 events) and Track 2, with a relegation system between them. McIlroy suggested the pre-LIV Golf tour structure was actually effective, and warned that Track 2 events could become 'glorified Korn Ferry Tour events,' particularly as LIV Golf faces financial difficulties without Saudi Public Investment Fund backing.
