Rory McIlroy reveals why he and Tiger Woods declined Nelly Korda’s request

Rory McIlroy, co-founder of TGL, explained in October 2026 why he and Tiger Woods declined Nelly Korda's request to participate in the existing TGL competition. McIlroy stated that organizers instead created a separate women's competition called WTGL, designed to give female professionals a dedicated platform to showcase their abilities. The decision followed criticism from American golfer Nelly Korda regarding her exclusion from the original TGL format.
