Rothschild advises Cape Town Formula 1 bid

The Blue Mountain Racing Grand Prix consortium, proposing a new Formula 1 circuit in the Swartland region north of Cape Town with a capacity of 125,000 spectators, has appointed Rothschild as its financial adviser to help secure corporate partners and meet government funding requirements. The group has responded to F1's initial technical and commercial requirements, with the evaluation process expected to take another 12 to 15 months. The Cape Town bid faces competition from Kyalami, near Johannesburg, which hosted South Africa's last F1 Grand Prix in 1993 and received South African cabinet approval for a government-backed bid in September 2025, though Formula 1 has not yet awarded a race to either venue.
