Rwanda Will Host Formula 1βs New African Grand Prix
Rwanda has secured a 10-year deal to host Formula 1's new African Grand Prix starting in the early 2030s, marking F1's return to the continent after a decades-long absence. A new 17-turn, 3.7-mile circuit will be built near Kigali in the city of Bugesera, designed with the help of Tilke Engineering and Wurz Designs, the latter involving Le Mans winner Alex Wurz. The track's hilly terrain and lakeside topography near Rwanda's capital were cited as key factors in the location's selection.
