Sabastian Sawe withdraws from Berlin Marathon due to injury

Kenyan marathon world record-holder Sabastian Sawe has withdrawn from the Berlin Marathon (September 27) due to injury, ruling out a defence of his title. Sawe made history at the London Marathon in April 2025 by clocking 1:59:30, becoming the first person to run a sub-two-hour marathon in race conditions. His next marathon is now expected to be in Spring 2026.
