Sale K's 11 to record his first shutout since 2019, wrap up sweep of Dodgers
Chris Sale of the Atlanta Braves threw a complete-game shutout, striking out 11 and allowing just five hits in a 1-0 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday night at Truist Park, completing a three-game sweep. It was Sale's first shutout since June 5, 2019, and he also threw his hardest pitches since 2018, topping 100 mph. The 37-year-old pitcher was emotionally motivated by the passing of family friend Ashley Foss, a 42-year-old Braves fan, who died on the day of the game.
